Education Philosophy
Throughout my time teaching I have followed my passion for infusing technology into the classroom. I believe through utilising technologies correctly and authentically both the learning environment and educational landscape can be enhanced. I enjoy assisting colleagues and helping to facilitate their learning through the use of technology in whatever capacity needed. I am a supporter of meaningful learning communities. I believe they are an area where teachers can collaborate, share and grow their skills whilst transforming ideas into practice.
I am an advocate of a learner-centred constructivist approach to teaching and therefore encourage learners to search for meaning and understanding through the construction of their own understandings. Differentiating to address individuals intelligences, learning styles and needs is an essential constituent of this process alongside the provision of diverse and engaging experiences which encourage learners to take risks. I see technology as a tool which can be utilised to effectuate this outcome through authentic integration into learning spaces throughout a school.
I believe it is our responsibility to assist all learners, albeit student, teachers, parents or administration in the integration, support and coaching of the use of technology into the curriculum. Technology is no longer just a tool, but an essential part of our everyday life, as a result it is invaluable in the process of constructing meaningful learning and with can then lead transformation.
